Welcome to the AFF Newsletter on Substack.
If you follow me on Telegram you’ll know that I recently found some old affirmations I’d written for myself in early sobriety.
It made me want to share the incredible power of practising affirmations and how they can enhance your journey as a father in sobriety.
Affirmations, when embraced and repeated with conviction, can be a transformative tool in shaping your mindset, strengthening your resolve, and nurturing a positive outlook on life.
This is exactly what I felt when I used to repeat them to myself.
As fathers who have given up drinking, we have made a decision to embark on a path of self-discovery and growth that will benefit our kids.
However, as we embrace this new journey, we sometimes encounter moments of doubt or uncertainty. It is during these times that affirmations can serve as a guiding light, reminding us of our strength, resilience and potential.
"You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream" - C.S. Lewis
As a sober dad, this quote resonates with my experience and I’m sure it does with you.
I try to look at each day as an opportunity for personal growth and use it as a way to pursue new aspirations.
By incorporating affirmations, as well as gratitude, into your daily routine, you will be able to create positive change in your life and be the father you aspire to be.
Another quote that beautifully encapsulates the essence of affirmations is one from Theodore Roosevelt, who said: "Believe you can and you're halfway there."
Affirmations act as a constant reminder that you are capable, worthy, and deserving of the happiness and fulfilment you are seeking.
"Whether you think you can or you think you can't, you're right" - Henry Ford
By embracing affirmations, you choose to focus on your abilities, strengths, and potential instead of succumbing to self-doubt.
When you develop a resilient mindset you will empower yourself to overcome challenges and fulfil your role as a loving, present, and sober father.
By incorporating affirmations into your life, you nurture your belief in the possibilities that lie ahead.
Remember, you possess the inner strength, determination, and resilience needed to create a future full of joy, love, and fulfilment for your family.
Let the words of Muhammad Ali echo within you: "I am the greatest. I said that even before I knew I was."
I invite you to embrace the power of affirmations as a valuable tool on your journey as a father in sobriety.
Believe in your greatness, embrace the affirmations that resonate within your soul, and affirm the positive qualities you wish to embody as a father.
Through consistent practice, affirmations can help shape your mindset, fuel your growth, and reinforce the path of sobriety you have chosen.
Remember, you are never alone on this journey.
We are a community of sober dads supporting one another through shared experiences and mutual encouragement.
Together, we will harness the power of affirmations to become the best versions of ourselves for the sake of our families and the legacy we are building.
Take care and have a great day,
