I love going on adventures with my son. The memories we are creating together will stay with me, and hopefully him, for a long time.
In fact, some of my favourite memories come from a yearly, totally unplanned, tradition.
You see, each year we go to a dinosaur park located around an hour and a half away and then follow that up with a trip to some beautiful waterfalls nearby.
The first time we went my son was young enough to still have some wonder when it came to the oversized animatronics. And although he has nearly outgrown the initial amazement at the electronic pre-historic creatures, he still enjoys the day as much as the first time we went.
The waterfalls are amazing and the water is freezing, but we all look forward to the cold dip after the dinosaur park.
Nothing can really beat swimming in fresh water and it creates the kind of wholesome memories that I sporadically remember from my own childhood.
He told me that he loves our annual trip.
So what memories are you creating with your own kids?
What adventures are you going on?
If you are looking for inspiration, then finding a dinosaur park or some waterfalls are great place to start.
Here are some things you could do with your kids in order to create some lasting memories:
Take a big bike ride
Visit a museum
Go to a funfair
Find an adventure playground
And your ideas don’t need to cost money.
During the worldwide lockdowns a few years ago, many parents were forced to think outside the box in order to keep their children entertained.
A lot of parents got back to basics and there is no one stopping you from doing the same now.
Build forts
Run races
Create Lego villages
Do art projects
Read together
Play chess
Test each other’s knowledge of a specific subject
Kick a football about
Swim in the sea together
The lockdowns were hard and there was a lot of uncertainty but the extra opportunity to bond with your kids was an unexpected bonus.
Many parents were able to spend more time with their children and did an excellent job at mixing education and fun.
But now the lockdowns are over and hopefully won’t come back, what are you doing to engage with your children?
What adventures do you have planned?
I’d love to hear from you.
Before you go, if you’re struggling to keep up with your children and want to get in better shape, I highly recommend checking out the 90-Day Warrior Monk Transformation program by Jack Coulson.
