Hiding addiction in plain sight
I am. I was sober for 9 months. I relapsed recently and I’m right back where I started. I hate this drug. It owns me.
9 months is an awesome achievement. You should be proud of yourself.
Now it's time to go again. Recovery is possible.
What steps are you taking to stay sober this time?
Reach out anytime.
The drug might be winning the fight, but you will win the war!
I'll likely check myself into the ER tomorrow
Thank you. I need to detox. I'm losing a fight I thought I had won. Now, I just think about suicide.
I had those thoughts for a long time. They do pass.
ER would be good. AA would be good. A treatment centre would be good.
Can you take some action today?
Please make sure you're staying connected with someone. Let them know about how you're feeling. You don't need to go through this alone.
Yes sir. The hiding and lying and sneaking around is a full time and exhausting job. So much time in the day nowadays :)
Yes, dropping alcohol has definitely freed up more time and recovery has helped me learn how to invest that more wisely 🙏
Loved the recent photos you shared, Dee. Great stuff 😎
Nice one mate - i drank for 45 years every day until my liver exploded! I'm writing about the positivr sides of stopping - none religious, no self-flagiliation - let's keep on fighting this legal addictive drug - but don't forget, many really enjoy alcohol and what it does to them! https://open.substack.com/pub/leighgbanks/p/perverts-and-demons-why-i-was-drinking?r=drr6n&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web
You're honesty and great delivery makes you a valuable voice in this recovery field. A pleasure to be fighting alongside you 💪
